(Otis Redding)
also released as the flip side of "Respect"

Old man trouble, just leave me alone
Go find you someone else to pick on
I live my life in doubt, you see now
Ooh old man trouble
Please stay away from me
Oh my,

Ooh yeah,
Yeah

Oh I look like I'm down in my luck
Please send faith to help pick me up
I've lived this way so many years
Ole man trouble

Please wash away all my fears
Help me

Sometimes
Sometime I get - I get a little worried
Ole man trouble
Please, please

Stay away from me
Ole man trouble, ole man trouble
Stay away, stay away
You're nothing but trouble
Stay away, stay away
Please, stay away...

2 - RESPECT
(Otis Redding)
also released as a single
(Volt 128) on August 15,1965
#35 pop, #4 r&b

What you want
Honey you've got it
And what you need
Baby you've got it

All I'm asking
Is for a little respect  when I come home

Do me wrong
Honey if you wanna
You can do me wrong
Honey while I am gone

But all I'm asking for
Is for a little respect when I come home

Hey little girl, you're so sweeter than honey
And I am about to just give you all my money

All I'm asking for
Is a little respect when I come home

Hey little girl, you're sweeter than honey
And I am about to give you all my money

But all I want you to do
Just give it, give it
Respect when I come home

Respect is what I want
Respect is what I need
Respect is what I want
Respect is what I need

Got to, got to have it
Got to, got to have it
Gotta, got to have it
Gotta, got to have it
.....

3 -  A CHANGE IS GONNA COME
(Sam Cooke)

I was born by the river, oh my
In this little old tent, oh
Just like this river
I've been runnin' ever since
It's been a long, long time comin'
But I know, but I know
A change has gotta come now
Oh yes it is now, oh my, oh my, oh my

It's been too hard livin', oh my
And I'm afraid to die
I don't know what's up there
Beyound the clouds
It's been a long, long time comin'
I know,  I know
A change has gotta come
Oh yes it is now, oh my, oh my, oh my

There's a time
I will go to my brother, oh my
I've asked my brother
"Will you help me, please?"
Oh now, oh my
He turned me down
And then I asked my dear mother
Oh now, oh now
I said "mother"
I said, "Mother, I'm down on my knees"

It's been a time that I thought
lord, this couldn't last very long
Oh now, oh
But somehow I thought I was still able
To try to carry on
It's been a long, long time comin'
But I know a change is gonna come
Oh yes it is

Just like I said
I went to my little bitty brother
Oh my, my little brother now
I asked my brother
"Brother, help me please" oh now
He turned me down
And then I go to my little mother
My dear mother, oh now
I said, "Mother"
I said, "Mother, I'm down on my knees"

But there was a time that I thought
lord, this couldn't last so very long
Oh my, oh
Somehow I thought I was still able
To try to carry on
It's been a long, long time comin'
But I know, but I know
A change gotta come

Ooh it's been so long
It's been so long, a little too long
But a change has gotta come
I'm so tired, so tired of suffering
And standing by myself
And standing up alone
But a change has gotta come
You know and I know
You know that I know
That I know that you know, honey
That a change is gonne come, oh my...

4 - DOWN IN THE VALLEY
(Burke, Berns, Chivian, Martin)

Down in the valley
In the valley so low
Hang your head over your shoulders
And you can hear
The four winds blow now
Now can't you hear the wind blow, my love
Can't you hear the wind blow
Way down in the valley
In the valley so low now

Now have you ever been lonely, lonely
Now have you ever been sad
Did you ever really need someone, oh my
You really need 'em bad
Got to, got to, got to (ad lib)

It was down in the valley
In the valley so low
It was when I held you so tight
How can I ever let you go go go go
Now it was down
Down, down, down, down
Down, down in the valley so low, oh my
When I held, baby, you so tight
How could I ever let you go now

Good God
Too much, too much,
Too much groovin' now
Too much, got to
Down in the valley
Was down in the valley
So low, so low
We can't go no further
Way down, way down, too much, got to
Groovin', groovin', groovin', got to
We can't, we can't, we can't

We can't, we can't, we can't
We can't go no further now
Got ot, got to
Good God almighty, we got to
Got to groovin', groovin', groovin'
Too much rhythm, got to rock it
Rock it, got to
A good time's what we're havin'
We got to, got to keep on
Keep on groovin'...

To stop now
You are tired
And you want to be free
My love is growing stronger
As you become a habit to me
Ooh been loving you too long
I don't wanna stop now, oh

With you my life has been so wonderful
I can't stop now
You are tired
And your love is growing cold
My love is growing stronger
As our affair, affair grows old
I've been loving you oh too long
To stop now

I've been loving you a little too long
I don't wanna stop now, oh oh
And don't make me stop now, oh baby
I'm down on my knees
And please don't make me stop now
I love you, I love you
I love you with all my heart
And I can't stop now

Please, please, please, yeah

6 - SHAKE
(Sam Cooke)
also released as a single (Volt 149)
on April 27, 1967  #47 pop, #16 r&b

You listen while I talk to you now
I tell you what we're gonna do now
There's a new thing a goin' around yeah
And I'll tell you what it's puttin' down
Move your body all around and just shake
Oh that's the way you do it now
Oh go on, go on, baby now
Shake, shake it, shake it, baby yeah

You shake it like a bowl of soup yeah
You let it go loop the loop yeah
You put your hands on your hip now
Come on and let your backbone slip
Move your body like a whip and just shake
Got to, got to, got to have it now
Keep on pushin', baby, shake
Got to, ooh, yeah, oh

Ring a ling a ling
Honey, shakin' is the greatest thing
But if you're ready to roll
You got to do the thing with soul

Shake it, shake with all your might
And if you do it, do it right now
You put your hands on your hip, yeah
And honey, you let your backbone slip
Move your body like a whip
You just shake

Got to, got to do it
Got to, got to have it now
Shake, shake, shake, shake
Oh shake, ooh yeah

If you want to really roll now
Got to do the thing with soul
Shake it, shake with all your might, yeah
Now if you do it, do it right now
Just let your body loop the light
And just, got to shake it
Shake it, baby, now
Got to, got to have it
Shake it, shake early in the mornin' now
Shake, shake, shake it in the evenin'
Shake it all, all night long
Shake, shake it all night long
Shake, shake it all night long
Shake, shake it all night long...

7 - MY GIRL
(William Robinson & Ronald White)

I've got sunshine on a cloudy day
And it's cold outside
I've got the month of May
Oh I guess you'd say
What can make ooh me feel this way
It's my girl, talkin' 'bout my girl

I've got so much lovin'
Oh the bees envy me
I got a sweeter song that I can sing
Than the birds in the trees
Oh I guess you will say
Ooh what can make me feel this way
It's my girl, talkin' 'bout my girl

Hey hey hey, hey hey hey, ooh yeah

I don't need no money
All I need is my fame
I got all the riches, baby
One big man can claim

8 - WONDERFUL WORLD

(Sam Cooke, Lou Adler, Herb Alpert)

I don't know much about the history now
Don't know much about biology
Don't much about the science book
Don't know much about the French I took
All I do know is I love you now
And I wonder if you love me, too
Ooh what a wonderful world this could be

I don't know much about geography now
Don't know much about
Trigonometry now
Don't know much about the algebra
Don't know what a slide rule is for
But I do know one and one is two now
And I wonder if you love me, too
Ooh what a wonderful world this could be

I don't claim to be "A" student
But that's what I'm trying to be
But by being an "A" student, baby
Looks like I could win your love for me

Don't know much about the history now
Don't know much about biology
I don't much about the science book now
Don't know much about the good French I took
All I do know is I love you now
And I wonder if you love me, too
Ooh what a wonderful world this could be

I don't claim to be "A" student
But that's what I'm trying to be
But if I have to be an "A" student, baby
I'm gonna win your love for me

I don't know much about geography now
Don't know much about trigonometry
Don't know much about the algebra now
Don't know what a good slide rule is for
But I do know one and one is two now
And I wonder if you love me, too
Ooh what a wonderful world this could be

Good lord, I been trying
I been trying, I been trying...

10 - SATISFACTION
(Mick Jagger & Keith Richard)
also released as a single (Volt 132)
on February 15, 1966

I can get no satisfaction
I can get no satisfaction
I have tried, I have tried
I have tried, I have tried

I can't get me no, ha, ha
I can't get no, uh, now

When I'm driving in my car
And the man talks on the radio
Keep tellin' me more and more
About that useless information
He's tryin' to mess up my imagination

And I can get me no, no, no
And I can get me no
Hey, hey, hey
What I say
You gotta, gotta, gotta groovy
We gotta have it, we gotta have it
We gotta have it, we gotta have it
Keep on grooving, keep on grooving
We keep on grooving
God, no, my, yeah

I can get no satisfaction
I can get no, no satisfaction
I have tried, I have tried
I have tried, I have tried, tried, tried
I can't get me no, no, no
And I can't get me no, no, no, no

We gotta groove it, groove it, oh my now
We keep on knockin', knockin' baby, yeah
Au, gotta, gotta have it
We gotta, keep, keep, ah

Whatever, why won't you wait for time
This little girl is tryin' to put me down
I keep on runnin' round in my sleep
I keep on messin' up any beat
I keep on rockin', I try to find me
Somebody to love me
And give me some reaction
And I can find nobody
No, no, nobody
Give me no faction, faction
Faction got to have it
Satisfaction, we got to have it
Satisfaction, earlier in the morning
Satisfaction, later in the evening
Satisfaction, and don't make my...

11 - YOU DON'T MISS YOU WATER
also released as the flip side of "Shake" (Volt 149) on April 27, 1967

In the beginning
You really loved me, oh
I was too blind
I could not see, now

But now that you left me
Ooh, how I cried out, I keep crying
You don't miss your water
Till your well are undried

I kept you crying
Sad and blue, oh my, oh
I was a playboy
I just wouldn't be true

But now that you left me
Good Lord, how I cried, I keep crying, I keep crying
Ooh, I've been miss my water
No I never miss my water
Till my well are undried

I sit here and wonder
How in the world this could be, my, oh my
I never thought, oh, I never thought
You ever leave me

But now that you left me
Good Lord, good Lord, how I cried out
You don't miss your water
You don't miss your water
Till your well are undried

Ooh, You don't miss your water, oh
You don't miss your water
Till your well are undried
I miss my water
I keep missing my water
I keep missing my water
And I want my water
I need my water
I love my water
And I want my water
And I'am little destined now
And I'am little destined now
I want my water
I need wanting my water
I never missed my water...

RESPECT

I Never Loved a Man... (The Way I Love You)"

Do me wrong honey if you wanna
You can do me wrong honey while I am gone

Tu peux me tromper, si tu veux,
Tu peux me tromper, chérie, pendant que je suis parti

Aretha dit:

I ain't gonna do you wrong while you're gone
Ain't gonna do you wrong 'cause I don't wanna

Hey little girl, you're so sweeter than honey
And I am about to just give you all my money
All I'm asking for is a little respect when I come home

I'm about to give you all of my money
And all I'm askin' in return, honey
Is to give me my propers
(*) when you get home

5) Aretha ajoute quelques lignes:

Your kisses sweeter than honey
And guess what?
So is my money
All I want you to do for me
Is give it to me when you get home

R.E.S.P.E.C.T, find out what it means to me,
R.E.S.P.E.C.T, take care, T.C.B. (**)

Oh (sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me (***))
A little respect (sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me)
Whoa, babe (just a little bit)
A little respect (just a little bit)
I get tired (just a little bit)
Keep on tryin' (just a little bit)
You're runnin' out of foolin' (just a little bit)
And I ain't lyin' (just a little bit)
(re, re, re, re) 'spect When you come home (re, re, re, re)
Or you might walk in (respect, just a little bit)
And find out I'm gone (just a little bit)
I got to have (just a little bit)
A little respect (just a little bit)

Notons qu'Aretha Franklin dans sa version de 1971 de "You're all I need to get by", cite sa propre version de Respect en improvisant:

You're all I need to get by
Cause we got a love with some R.E.S.P.E.C.T
